Since October 2014, all firms involved in property management must belong to a property redress scheme such as The Property Redress Scheme (PRS) or The Property Ombudsman Limited. If you are unhappy with the service you receive from a property manager, you must first complain to that firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019 MQS was fined \u00a35,000 by Greenwich Trading Standards as \u201cThe company had failed to be a member of a Redress Scheme. This was after receiving advise in writing and in person\u201d <\/em>(Royal Borough of Greenwich fixed charge notice). It subsequently joined the PRS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any complaint is best settled directly with MQS. If this isn\u2019t possible or if MQS fails to respond appropriately to a formal complaint within the PRS criteria, there is the option to pursue this with the PRS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Criteria for making a complaint to the Property Redress Scheme (PRS) are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. A breach of the Member\u2019s obligations under the law<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. When legal rights have been impinged or breached by a Member<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. When a Member has not acted in accordance with a Code of Practice it has signed up to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. When a Member has not administered a transaction as efficiently as would be expected<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Unfair treatment of the complainant by the Member; including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Rudeness or discourtesy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Not explaining matters<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Poor or incompetent service<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Avoidable delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A formal written complaints must first be made to the firm concerned within 12<\/p>\n\n\n\n

months of the incidence before a complaint can be raised with the PRS. Details of<\/p>\n\n\n\n
